After viewing the video “What is Public Health”, go on a scavenger hunt to find your own examples of public health in your community (billboards, signs, newspaper articles etc).

What I liked the most was that it says to think of 7 things you are grateful for and to compliment 4 other people. I believe this is something that we lack incredibly even as adults. I couldn’t tell you the last time I sat down and wrote 7 things I was grateful for or when someone other than my fiancé complimented me. I believe these actions of kindness is what the world and our children need in today’s society. After seeing this, I also think it is important for people to reflect on their day and be grateful for the things they do have, instead of always wanting or looking for things that they don’t. I think this would help people me more mindful and could help with a lot of the mental health issues that have raised in the past few years. I was raised to say please and thank you and to always hold the door open for others, especially our elders and I don’t see much of that anymore. I think that is a small gesture to do for someone else and could be seen as a compliment in some form. I also think the nutrition and physical aspect is important. By being mindful of being active for one hour can greatly improve us not only physically, but mentally and emotionally. Nutrition is so important to help boost our immune systems by eating the right amount of fruits and veggies and getting enough water. Another thing, I don’t do well is get enough sleep. Sleep is very important because that is the time our body and mind are restoring themselves. I will now try to do everything on this poster and encourage my daughter to do the same.
