Respond to the following:
When it comes to the Eden Alternative I do believe that one of the benefits mights include people being
involved they will have a sign of relief knowing that a burden of some sort was off their plate. Also for
the Eden Alternative many of the emotions such as loneliness or even helplessness can occur through
culture change and ic can be replaced with having a companion of some sort. Overall I do believe that
the Eden Alternative is beneficial .it can help us know how people are feeling and just to assure that
people are being taken care of. Brittany

Antidote: Companionship
The Eden Alternative is
committed to creating a
human habitat where life
revolves around close and
continuing contact with
plants, animals and children
After a lifetime of caring for
families some residents
find it difficult to be cared
for. Helping them to care
for fellow residents
enables them to contribute
and feel valued again.
Key elements of
companionship are
intergenerational activities.

Companionship is all about
caring relationships. In an
Eden Home residents and
staff are encouraged to build
relationships with each
other.
At Bennett House staff
residents and families work
together to create purpose
and meaning to the day by
continuing to do familiar
activities of daily living.

Antidote: Spontaneity & Variety
In the Royal Borough of
Kingston the Activities
Programme is just a guide. If
its fine residents would
rather be out feeding the
swans on the Thames.
If its wet there are craft sessions with the local school
children or a dance. Clearly age is no handicap if youve
got rhythm!
Creating a life worth living
The Eden Alternative
encourages residents to be
themselves! Celebrate
individual uniqueness and
do things for fun, not always
for a deeper meaning.
